Blackjack is a game of skill and experience, and this is
where you can master the skills it takes to beat the game.
The first thing to consider when playing online
blackjack, as with standard blackjack is: “How many decks of cards are being
used by the dealer?†This number can vary widely from 1 up to 15 depending on
your casino. Single deck games are harder to find, but are obviously much easier
to track by "charting" cards as they are dealt.
As a result, online blackjack is far more advantageous to
the player because there is no dealer who can monitor you taking notes and
counting cards. While playing at an online casino with a charting strategy,
blackjack systems may be implemented.
Here is a sample chart for playing online blackjack with:
Card designations of “10â€, such as, 10’s, Jacks,
Queen and King account for 16 of 52 cards. Roughly half way through the deck,
players may predict the dealers down card and wager accordingly. This is an
opportune time to wager heavily such as double downs or taking one hit in
exchange for doubling your wager. For instance, if your hand is 12 and it is
unlikely that the next card will be a 10 designation, then double down.
Play conservatively during the last few hands so that you
don’t take yourself out of the game before the end of the deck. At this time,
the cards being dealt should be clear based on the checked off cards from your
chart. Wager heavily when you know you have a great chance to win and
conservatively when the house has the advantage.
The single deck charting strategy may be used when
playing multiple deck games, but to a larger degree. The chart above may be
expanded for however many decks the dealer uses and the cards are charted as
they are dealt. Most online blackjack players use the same strategy or system
they use while playing at a land casino. This is the overwhelming reason why
online casinos win. Do not rush while playing online. Play methodically and
chart the cards as they are dealt. With multiple deck blackjack, the rewards can
be enormous, but the more decks are used the more bankroll you will need in
order to notice patterns.
Advanced Blackjack Strategy:
As with the double down strategy above, some hands will
make or break you. Don’t split 5’s and don’t split 10’s.
With 5s you are converting a hand that should be valued
as a 10 and splitting it into two hands of 5 each. If you are dealt a
7,8,9 or 10, you will have problems. When you have two 10 value cards, you are
asking for trouble by taking a nice hand of 20 and doubling your bet and opening
up the possibility of being dealt 2-7 value cards twice. This occurs quite
frequently.
Your goal is to maximize your opportunities. You want to
split Aces. After splitting aces in most online casinos, you are allowed only
one card after you split. Ideally you would like a 10 value for each hand.
If you do not split your Aces, you have a cumulative hand
value of 2. At this point, if you are dealt two 10-value cards in a row, which
is not unusual, you will bust. Secondarily, you want to maximize your
opportunities by turning a single wager into twice that amount.
Caribbean Stud Poker is one of the few table games that
has been able to keep it’s share of the increasingly smaller amount of space
casinos give to table games. Casinos prefer slots because they don’t require
dealers and pit boss supervision. Caribbean Stud is modeled after the classic
American poker game, 5 card stud. If you know poker hand values, you can play
Caribbean Stud.
When you begin playing, you will be asked to make an ante
bet. This favors the house because you haven’t been able to see any cards
before you wager. You’re also given the option to partake in a progressive
jackpot. This progressive jackpot gives the house a further edge. For the
progressive jackpot to be a good wager, it should be valued at around $400,000,
but this is extremely rare.
Still, just like with Let It Ride, many players
participate anyway thinking that it’s only $1 and fearing they will lose out
if they draw a five-card royal flush. If you were to play 4 hrs a day,
five days a week, your odds of drawing a five-card royal are still minimal. Our
advice is to pass on the progressive jackpot.
Assuming you do resist the urge to play the progressive
jackpot, now all you need to do is resist playing unless your starting hand is
A-K-J-8-3 or better and you are half way home. So if you have any pair or if
your hand is A-K-J-9-2 you SHOULD continue. Do not play if your hand is
A-K-J-7-6 or A-Q-J-10-0. If you do bet, then you should wager twice your
original ante and if you draw something like 5-5-5-3-3, then you happily wager
because you have a full house and will be paid a multiple of your bet.
Another problem with Caribbean Stud and the reason why
many players prefer Let It Ride follows. If the dealer does not qualify (take a
hand that is at least A-K or better, ou don’t win anything other than your
ante bet.
The multiple you expected from your full house doesn’t
get paid if the dealer turns over something like K-Q-6-5-3. In this case, you
just win the ante bet and the other money is returned. Since you always win the
ante when the dealer fails to qualify and you have stayed in the game by making
the double ante bet, many poor Caribbean Stud players will make the double ante
wager with a weak hand in the hopes that they will collect if the dealer fails
to qualify.
Because you have to risk double your original bet in an
attempt to win the ante, this is a dangerous way to play Caribbean Stud. It’s
much better to wait for another hand to be dealt when you don’t have the
minimum as shown above. The next hand comes very fast, unlike traditional poker
where you may have to wait for the next hand.
Play the decent hands and fold the losers in order to
have a decent chance. Though you will still be the underdog, at least you won’t
be another casino casualty.
For video poker, you’ll want to
use the same basic chart that was used for blackjack. You’ll want to again
find out how many decks are in use so that you may chart the cards accordingly.
Below is our example of a single deck chart.
In contrast with online blackjack- which is
simply a numbers game, video poker has a few complexities that make it more
difficult to master. However, the potential payouts are faster and larger.
Bet the Max
Always bet the max amount of coins allowed on
every hand. If you cannot afford to do this on the $1 online games, then drop
down to quarter games to warm up. It is essential to have the max coins placed
when you hit a big hand.
Use Your Chart
As with blackjack, you have the time to chart
the cards dealt during video poker. Knowing the cards available can help you
make discard decisions. Knowing the available cards will help you make your
discard decisions. For example, if you have 2 kings and 2 fours, but your chart
show that there are 4 Kings left in a 4 deck game, but 10 fours left….throw
away the kings! Go for the 4 of a kind…
Creative Discarding
Online video poker games are constructed of
complex algorithms that make sure each shuffle of the deck is a random deal and
to prevent paying out more than it has taken in. To manage this, casinos take
advantage of that fact, and that most people don’t differentiate between
online video poker and regular poker. Most people will keep mediocre hands (such
as two pair) because they were taught to do so. However, the best hand you can
get with two pair is a full house, which will pay 15-1 at best. Take note that
the online casinos will gladly pay out full houses, so don’t fall into this
trap. Always go for the JACKPOT hands. So throw away one of those pairs and go
for four of a kind, strait flush or royal flush. This creative discarding will
outsmart the algorithms which are expecting you to play in the traditional
manner.
Although the math behind roulette is simple, the
odds are not as high as other games. American roulette gives the house a 5.26%
advantage for every bet, but one. The other bet has an even worse house
advantage of 7.29%. However, when playing online, the player has some distinct
advantages over playing at land based casinos, such as the ability to follow the
game and strategize by charting like we've illustrated with other games.
Roulette Rules:
Roulette is one of the easiest games to
understand and one of the easiest to play. The roulette wheel consists of 37 or
38 numbered slots which are 1 – 36, a zero and sometimes a double zero as with
American roulette. The roulette layout consists of every individual
number, as well as, a host of “outside†bets which are combinations of
numbers. After the players have wagered, the dealer spins the wheel and after
several seconds the ball will land in one of the numbered slots.
The Numbers:
Advantage = [18/38 X 1] + [18/38 X (-1)] + [2/38 X
(-0.5)] = 1/38 = -0.0263 -> or house edge of 2.63%
Another well known strategy in roulette is to look for
wheels that don’t have a double zero called European roulette. European
roulette wheels lack a double zero, but American wheels always have it. By
definition the European wheel affords the player slightly better odds.
An example of a chart that may be used to track
wheel spin results is shown below. As you can see the there are five columns.
The first column is used to track wheel spins, the second column tracks the spin
result. Columns C1, C2 and C3 are used to track columns 1,2 and 3 on the
roulette table as you see shown to the right below. As you can see from the
tracking chart below, the first spin resulted the ball landing on the number 4
on the table which is in column 1 (labeled C1 from the chart). Then spin 2
resulted in the ball landing on 17 which is in column 2 (labeled C2 from the
chart).
BACCARAT TIPS & STRATEGIES
Baccarat Rules
Baccarat uses 8 decks of cards. Each card less than a value of 10 is worth
its face value. Aces are worth 1 and tens and face cards are worth 0. Suits are
irrelevant.
Play begins when all players bet on the “playerâ€, “banker†or a “tieâ€.
The player and banker do not represent the dealer or the actual players. When
all bets have been placed, the dealer gives two cards to the banker and the
player. The hand “score†is the second digit from the sum total of all the
cards. For example a 4 and a 6 would be a sum total of 12 and the score would be
2. The scores will always range between 0 and 9 and it’s impossible to bust. A
third card, may or may not be dealt to either or both the player and the dealer
depending on the totals. If either the player or the banker has a total of 8 or
9 they both stand. If the player’s total is 5 or less, then the player hits,
otherwise the player stands. If the player stands, then the banker hits on a
total of 5 or less. If the player does hit, then the chart below can be used to
determine if the banker hits (H) or stands (S).
The person with the highest score wins. Winning bets for the banker pay 19 to
20 (or even money, less a 5% commission). Winning bets for the player pay 1 to
1. Winning bets on a tie pay either 8 to 1 or 9 to 1 depending on the venue you
are playing at.
Regardless, the tie is a very bad bet and should be avoided.
If you are wondering how the dealer collects 5% commission on winning banker
bets, it works like this. If the dealer were to collect on every hand, there
would be a lot of change and it would slow play too much. To avoid this, the
dealer just pays out even money to winning banker bets and considers the 5%
commission an IOU (I owe you).
As the dealer plays through the 8 deck shoe, they will keep track of the
commissions the players owe. At the end of the shoe or when a player wants to
leave, the dealer will collect commissions.
The House Edge
Other than the tie bet, baccarat is one of the best bets at the online
casino. The following table displays the house edge on all bets:
Baccarat playing strategies are based on math.
The most popular strategy is the 1-3-2-6 play. With this technique you track
your bets over the course of four hands. The goal is to make small bets with the
potential for a large return. With this system, one can risk $2 for a return of
$10.
Keno is very simple to learn and only takes a few minutes. When participating
in a game of keno, you need special “ticketsâ€, which are found at the casino
tables. The tickets have 80 squares that are numbered from 1 to 80 and are
arranged in rows of 10. These numbers also appear on 80 ping-pong balls that are
located in a spherical wheel which is spun to randomize the draw. Depending on
where you are playing, there are limitations as to how many numbers you can
draw, but 20 would be the maximum since that is the same amount of balls that
are drawn. As you can tell, keno is very similar to the state lottery.
Keno tickets consist of several additional areas that are marked in order to
identify the game the person is playing. The tickets have an area to mark the
number of games as well as one to mark the number of spots or ways played. These
specifications are used to avoid conflicts for claiming prizes. A space is also
provided for players to write down the price per game and another one that holds
ticket price, which depends on how many games you choose to play the ticket for.
For example, if a game costs $1 and you play 5 times, the ticket cost is $5.
After the player has filled out the ticket with the necessary info, they have
to present it to the keno desk with their wager. The clerk then gives the player
a duplicate ticket. The results balls picked are displayed for everyone to see
on an electronic board. One very important rule when playing keno is to collect
your prize immediately. If your prize is not collected before the next game then
it is forfeited.
When playing Keno, there isn’t much in the way of strategy that can be
utilized. The numbers you pick don’t play much of a role in determining
whether you win or not since Keno is a game of pure luck.
Before we begin explaining strategy for Keno, it is important to understand
that there is nothing that can be done to significantly increase your odds with
Keno.
When beginning, you have the ticket in front of you and you may be wondering
how to play so that you will hit the jackpot. Unfortunately your only ally when
playing Keno is lady luck.
The probability chart from the link below shows your odds given the amount of
spots you have marked. There are two notations. One for the probability, which
is the likelihood of catching a certain amount of numbers based on the number of
spots you marked; and the second is the odds against catching the specified
number of spots in the 'catch' column.

How do you give yourself the best chances? Well, money management is a very
important consideration when gambling, and keno is no exception. Money
management is a critical factor in a good keno strategy, because that's what
allows you to play. Such is the world - not much comes free. Keno is a fairly
safe game because you are only dropping small amounts of money at a time. With
wide variety of ways to play the game, it's easy for all the bets to add fast.
Although normally keno isn't a very expensive game to play, with most betting
limits being around $1 or $2, it can end up costing more than one person can
afford to lose.
Keno players have to make the decision when beginning to play, between
choosing a small amount of numbers, and choosing a large amount of numbers. The
sharp individual is going to notice that the odds have to change with the amount
of numbers the player picks? If you pick just two numbers, isn't there a better
chance of hitting 100% of those numbers than if you had picked 10? In actuality
yes, but as payouts fluctuate with the number of numbers picked, the casinos
compensate for any weak mathematics. You don't get paid nearly as well for
hitting all of your 3 numbers, as you would, had you hit all of your 10 numbers.
Keno really isn't for gamblers who like to win consistently to build up their
winnings, but rather for the players seeking some fun and entertainment, and
hoping to get lucky and strike it rich in one bet. If you're looking for smaller
but consistent wins, we would suggest blackjack or craps. Ironically enough, the
games that have the highest house edge are usually the most enjoyable because
they offer more action for your dollar, but less frequent chances for a win.
So, if I haven't answered your questions pertaining to a keno strategy,
follow this: enjoy yourself to get the most out of your dollar.
The slot machine strategy for online slots is similar to that of standard
slot machines.
Standard slots are programmed to pay out after they have collected a certain
amount. Since casinos maintain a 1% advantage over the player, the casinos will
begin to pay after collecting a 51% quota. Then they will begin paying out the
remaining 49%.
Given the above, pick a slot machine and play for an hour at different times
during the day. Most machines operate on a cycle, so they usually begin to pay
out at the same times during the day. Pick a beginning bankroll, say $40 for
quarter slots. Play that amount 1 credit at a time and cash out every time until
you’ve spent your original $40 that you started with.
Afterward, count your winnings. Be sure to keep a log of your winnings and/or
losses and the time of day when you won or lost. Once you have pinpointed a good
time to play according to the time when you previously won, you will increase
your stake to $100 or so and bet max credits every time. Below is an example of
a slots log:
Making sure you establish a consistent playing pattern is essential to
online slots. Online slots are not random at all, as most people think…they
are programmed to pay once they have collected a predefined amount of money as
we mentioned earlier.
You will be able to track multiple slots sessions using the log above and
only play when other players have filled the machine. This way the machine will
be ready to pay once you start your session! .
Craps may seem complicated in the beginning, but if you focus on the smart
bets, and stick with a strategy, you can skip learning curve and have a great
chance of beating the house. That is because craps does the unthinkable and
offers a bet where the house has no edge! However, if you want to become
proficient with craps, we suggest reading this several times and practicing with
small bets.
The Pass Line
The pass line is the most fundamental bet in craps and almost every
player at the table bets on it. The house edge on the pass line is only
1.41%, which is low in comparison to some other bets one could make and other
games.
The pass line is an even money bet. The player starts by placing their bet on
the pass line area of the table on a 'come out roll.' If the come out roll is a
7 or 11 you win. If the come out roll is a 2, 3, or 12 you lose. If the
come out roll is anything else then what was rolled then that number is called
the point. A white disk will be placed on the table to show what the point is.
Then the dice will be rolled over and over until either a 7 or the point is
rolled. If the point is rolled first, the player wins, if a 7 is rolled first
you lose.
Never place a pass line bet after the come out roll. Only a sucker would do
this because the odds of winning on the come out roll are much greater than
those of losing. The player may wonder if the next point is the come out roll
when they step up to the table. If there is a white disk on the table then there
is an active point. Wait until either the point is thrown or a 7. After
this time wait for the dealer to either collect bets or pay people off.
Then you can place your bet.
Buying the Odds
Have you ever wanted to make a bet where the house has no edge? Craps offers
exactly that, but you must bet on the pass line first. Once a point has been
thrown you may bet up to some multiple, usually 2 times, your pass line bet on
the 'odds.' The odds are simply an additional wager that the point will be
rolled before a 7. Because the probability of the point being rolled first
is less than 50%, you win more than you bet if it happens. Specifically, if the
point is a 6 or 8 the odds pay 6:5, if the point is a 5 or 9 the odds pay 3:2,
and if the point is a 4 or 10 the odds pay 2:1.
The multiple you may bet on the odds is usually twice the pass line bet
for points of 4,5,9, and 10, and two and a half times the pass line bet on
the 6 and 8. The reason you may bet more on a point of 6 or 8 is so that
you can place a $5 odds bet on top of a $2 pass line bet. A $4 odds bet on a 6
or 8 would win $4.80 and nobody likes to deal with small change at the craps
table. A $5 odds bet on the 6 or 8 wins an even $6.
The table below shows the house edge when you combine the pass line and odds:
Don't Pass
The don't pass is almost the opposite of the pass line bet. If the come out
roll is a 2 or 3 then you win, a 7 or 11 you lose. A 12 is a push. Otherwise the
dice are rolled over and over until either the point or a 7 is rolled. If the 7
comes before the point you win.
A person betting on the don't pass is called a "wrong" bettor and is usually
winning when everyone else is losing, and vise versa. You definitely want to
keep a low profile if you take this bet, as nobody is going to want to see you
boasting about winning if everyone else just lost.
